The Firewatch is responsible for monitoring active work areas during forestry, fuels reduction, and equipment operations to ensure early detection of fire hazards and rapid response to unsafe conditions. This role plays a critical part in maintaining job site safety by providing continuous observation, communication, and support to operating engineers and field crews.

The Firewatch works independently while maintaining clear communication with equipment operators and supervisors to help prevent fire incidents and ensure compliance with safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor designated work areas for signs of fire, smoke, heat, or other fire-related hazards

• Maintain visual oversight of equipment operations to ensure fire prevention measures are followed

• Immediately report safety concerns, hazards, or potential fire risks to assigned operating engineers and supervisors

• Provide assistance during fire-related incidents in accordance with training and site procedures

• Follow all company, site-specific, and regulatory safety protocols

• Maintain situational awareness in active forestry and equipment work environments

Qualifications & Skills:

​

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Prior experience in fire prevention, fire safety, forestry, or related field preferred

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and safety procedures

• Clear and effective communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Physically capable of standing and remaining alert for extended periods in outdoor environments
