Heavy Equipment Operator

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Tiger Cat 480B mastication equipment in forestry, fuels reduction, and fire prevention projects. This role supports forest management objectives by performing large-scale mastication and land treatment work in rugged, outdoor environments.

The ideal candidate has proven experience operating heavy mastication equipment, demonstrates strong mechanical awareness, and maintains a safety-first mindset. This position works closely with project managers, supervisors, and field crews to ensure projects are completed to specification, on schedule, and in compliance with all safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate Tiger Cat 480B mastication equipment for forest management, fuels reduction, and fire prevention operations

  • Perform pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety

  • Follow all company, site-specific, and regulatory safety protocols

  • Work collaboratively with field crews, supervisors, and project leadership to meet project objectives

  • Maintain productivity and quality standards while operating in variable terrain and conditions

  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding progress, equipment needs, and site conditions

  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain and improve operational skills

  • Travel to out-of-town job sites as required (lodging provided)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in forestry, fuels reduction, or fire prevention operations

  • Mechanical certification or related technical training

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work conditions, terrain, and schedules

  • Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Strong commitment to job site safety and operational best practices

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow direction

  • Willingness to travel for extended or out-of-town assignments

  • Fire card preferred

  • $30 - $40
